The backyard of the Karasebed Ducal House was wrapped in an awkward atmosphere.

Ignoring the mood on purpose, the Omniversal Archive Heaven’s Library cut in.

“My master, you should go ahead and finish naming them as well.”

Li tilted her head, thinking that made sense.

The Cù-Sìth was a dark greenish color, while the Cait Sith was a slightly yellow-tinted cream.

She considered taking their names from their colors.

Anko, ohagi, lemon pie, custard.

Li decided she wanted to stay away from food-based names.

After thinking for a while, inspiration struck.

Jewels, she thought.

“How about Obsidian for the Cù-Sìth and Chrysoberyl for the Cait Sith?”

Obsidian refers to black volcanic glass.

Chrysoberyl is a yellow-green gemstone.

Chrysoberyl can display the chatoyancy effect, shining like a cat’s eye.

In other words, the so-called cat-eye effect.

“Wafun.”

“It’s Chrysoberyl!”

At the moment the familiars accepted Li’s naming, light burst forth brilliantly.

There was no major change in their shape.

Or rather, there was.

Their already splendid coats became even fluffier and more luxuriant.

They looked as though they had just been freshly groomed.

“My colleagues, I am Trismegistus of the Omniversal Archive Heaven’s Library, chief among my master’s familiars.”

“Nice to meet you!”

With that, the familiar contracts were successfully completed.

Li smiled brightly.

“Big sis!”

Li heard her younger sister’s voice.

Looking over, she saw her sister running toward her with sparkling eyes.

Even though the area had been cleared of people, doing something this flashy was bound to attract attention from the mansion.

Especially since the Cù-Sìth was so large, it must have been visible even from the residence.

Behind her sister were the attending maids, all of them staring fixedly at the fluff.

“Sonia, it’s dangerous to run. Please stop.”

After waiting a moment, her sister leapt at her.

Li caught her easily and gently patted her head.

“Welcome back, big sis.”

“I’m home, Sonia.”

“Hey, hey, big sis. There’s a really big doggy.”

“Pleased to meet you! I am called Chrysoberyl!”

The Cait Sith bowed politely toward Sonia.

“Wow! A talking kitty! And a big doggy!”

By sheer coincidence, it was the same pairing as the stuffed toys Li had once given her younger siblings.

Deeply moved by that, Sonia stared wide-eyed at the two of them.

“Wafun.”

“It says its name is Obsidian.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Sonia. Big sis’s little sister.”

Li and the maids all smiled softly.

What was this wonderfully fanciful world, anyway.

“Big sis, can I pet them?”

“Why don’t you ask them?”

Just as Sonia was about to speak, Obsidian licked her face.

Sonia let out a squeal, but she was smiling.

She jumped onto Obsidian, then hugged Chrysoberyl as well.

It was a heartwarming sight.

But Li found herself thinking.

Was she like this herself just a little while ago?

Chrysoberyl stuck out its tongue and rolled onto its back, getting its belly fluffed.

Meanwhile, the maids squealed happily as they were wrapped up by Obsidian’s tail while he sat.

The faces of Sonia and the maids had all gone soft and melty.

They were having fun.

Li understood.

She understood, but still—

That saying drifted through Li’s mind.

All while acknowledging that no one can truly resist the charm of fluff.
